Mornings are an incredibly special part of our day. They are uniquely important because they signify the beginning of something new, a new day to love God greatly and do better.
While the mundane world speaks of many “morning rituals” that have no real meaning, the only real morning “ritual” is the one practiced by our Lord Jesus himself: Morning prayer.
That is because morning prayer can make all the difference. It is the most special time of day to pray, because it means that we are making God a priority and giving Him the very first hours of our precious day.
By praying any of these Bible verses, you are bound to be prepared to face anything that your day may throw at you, any test, trial, and come out in one piece and glorifying God:
Let’s discover those delightful Bible verses that are amazing for morning prayer:
-
Psalm 63:1
Psalm 63:1-3: “You, God, are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you,
my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
where there is no water.
2 I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.
3 Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you”.
This is the NIV translation, but other translations of this Bible verse say: “Very early in the morning I will seek you”.
David was a holy man greatly loved by God and in this Psalm he’s speaking about a need all human beings have to connect with God, and this need is so important we all need to seek Him first thing in the morning.
With this Psalm you can pray:
“Dear Lord I understand the need my spirit has to seek you in the morning and just like David said, your love is better than life”. I come to worship you this morning and to ask that you satisfy me with your unfailing love today.” Amen
2. Psalm 127:1-2:
Psalm 127: 1-2: “Unless the Lord builds the house,
the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain.
2 In vain you rise early
and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat—
for he grants sleep to those he loves”.
With this Psalm you can pray:
“Dear Lord, everything I do in this day, whether it is at work, school, at home or anywhere else is in vain unless your holy presence is with me. Help me today to be holy so I can be worthy of your presence”. Amen
3. Hosea 6:3:
Hosea 6:3: “Let us acknowledge the Lord;
let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises,
he will appear;
he will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth.”
With this beautiful Scripture from Hosea, you can pray:
“Dear Lord, just like the prophet Hosea said, as sure as the sun rises, you will appear. I will not fear anything this day may bring in my life, because you’ll be with me since the very beginning of the day, just like you promised”.
4. Psalm 5:3:
3 “In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait expectantly”.
This is an incredible Psalm that again states the importance of praying in the morning. This Psalm is also a revelation of something not many people know: that God answers and hears morning prayer more than any other type of prayer.
With this Psalm you can pray: “Dear Lord I make it a priority to rise up very early in the morning to seek your holy face, because I know you love when we commit the very first hours of our day to you.
“Whether it is at 4:00 a.m. or 5:00 a.m I will rise up early to pray and fervently lay my request before you and wait expectantly for your glorious answer, just like David said”.
5. Psalm 143:8-10:
Psalm 143: 8-10: “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I entrust my life.
9 Rescue me from my enemies, Lord,
for I hide myself in you.
10 Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God;
may your good Spirit
lead me on level ground”.
This Psalm is similar to the ones above, but slightly different as well: King David is asking for protection, and affirming his trust in God.
With this Psalm you can pray: “Dear Lord I put my trust in you, and in this new day not only will I not fear anything, but I will trust you with all I am as well, just like your servant David knew how to do”.
6. Proverbs 4:18-19:
Proverbs 4:18-19: “The path of the righteous is like the morning sun,
shining ever brighter till the full light of day.
19 But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness;
they do not know what makes them stumble”.
This Bible verse is fitting to pray in the morning because is an amazing symbol of how Christian life is. With this proverb, you can pray:
“Dear Lord, in this new day I’m beginning, just like other Scriptures state, I know you’re with me, I know I can put my trust in you, and I ask you straighten my path today and that you help my faults and mistakes be better over time, like the morning sun that shines ever brighter until the full light of day”.
7. Lamentations 3:22-23:
Lamentations 3:22-23: “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness”.
Other translations of this amazing Bible verse state, “his mercies begin afresh every morning”.
If you sinned yesterday, today is your chance to make it right.
8. Psalm 30:5:
Psalm 30:5: “Weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning”.
If you’re going through something difficult in your life, then this Psalm is specifically for you.
With this Psalm that has a very deep meaning, you can pray:
“Lord I know I have been going through a bad time, but I trust what you’re in control and what you’re doing in my life will only benefit me in the long run.
“I begin this day trusting that everything will be alright regardless of what happens because you’re faithful”. Amen
9. Ecclesiastes 11:6:
Ecclesiastes 11:6: “Plant your seed in the morning and keep busy all afternoon, for you don’t know if profit will come from one activity or another—or maybe both”. (NLT)
With this Bible verse from Ecclesiastes you can pray:
“Faithful Lord, I commit everything I do to you today, bless all my activities on school or work so that they may produce amazing results for your glory today”.
10. Matthew 28:20:
Matthew 28:20: “Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
In here, our Lord emphasizes how He’ll be with us every single day of our lives. Other translations state “until the end of the world”.
Similar to the Scripture in Hosea 6:3, this last Scripture is perfect to finish your morning prayer by affirming:
“Lord, thank you for affirming several times in Scripture how you will always be with me. I thank you for your specific promise of being with me everyday until the world ends,
and in this new day I will do my best to be a great disciple of you and make new disciples for you as well, by obeying all of your commandments myself and teaching them to others by example as well”.
Your mornings will never be the same again. When you begin your day by praying and proclaiming the faithfulness of God then you have an advantage over your day that no one else has.
I encourage you to pray all of the Bible verses above in your mornings, and be prepared to witness the glory of the Lord at work, school, or at any time or place when you adopt this habit. God bless you!
