5 Marks Of A Biblical Husband You’ll Wish You Knew Sooner

Just like there exist the 5 marks of a Biblical wife, you might wonder sometimes, what might a Biblical husband look like?

What are those amazing things, components or elements that exist in the spiritual “make-up” of a Godly/Biblical husband?

Well, they are very similar to the marks of a Biblical wife, with some differences. They’re no secret, and they’re there for every wife that wishes to look.

And thanks to really amazing Bible study I have found what a Biblical husband looks like, because the Word of God defines how to be Biblical husband exactly.

Biblical husband

Let’s discover the 5 amazing characteristics that compose a Biblical husband:

  1. He puts God first

1 Kings 11:4: “As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been”.

You might think: Wait, but shouldn’t I be my husband’s first priority?

Actually, no.

Solomon loved his wives more than he loved God, not like his father king David that always gave the Lord the #1 place in his life, no matter what. Hallelujah.

This brought Solomon great ruin and dire consequences because of the numerous sins his wives made him commit.

When your husband puts God first, that is something amazing because of one reason as well:

If you happen to stray from the right path in your life(like it happens to many people) and you might start drinking, gambling, cursing(let’s hope not) or any combination of the three, your husband can lead you right back to the path of righteousness.

Now, let’s go on to next amazing mark of a Biblical husband:

2.He fulfills his wife’s needs

One important element of a Biblical husband is fulfilling all of his wife’s needs, with incredible emphasis on sexual needs. Is this Biblical? Well, absolutely.

Let’s take a look at 1 Corinthians 7:

1 Corinthians 7:3-4: “The husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s needs …and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife”.

We also then find out that it is absolutely forbidden for a husband to deprive her wife of sexual relations, in verse 5:

1 Corinthians 7:5: “Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time so you can give yourselves more completely to prayer”.

Isn’t our amazing and beautiful Lord incredible? He wants ALL aspects of a marriage to be completely successful, including this very important aspect.

Now, unto the next super important mark of a Biblical husband:

3.He treats his wife like his own body

Biblical husband

Ephesians 5:28: “So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church”.

This one is very similar to mark #2, because who doesn’t fulfill the needs of its own body?. In the same way, our amazing Christ commands Christian husbands everywhere to treat their wives like their own bodies.

4. He avoids situations of potential sexual temptation

Biblical husband

Let’s take a look at Matthew 5:28:

Matthew 5:28-29: “But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell”.

You can absolutely bring help to your husband in this important endeavor.

For that, you need to learn all about this subject as well, so here’s an amazing post on how to not only avoid, but also completely overcome sexual temptation.

5. He bears his wife’s burdens

Biblical husband

A Biblical marriage can be one of the most beautiful things ever when both husband and wife carry each other’s burdens.

That’s why we can contemplate this on Galatians 6:2:

Galatians 6:2: “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ”.

These 5 marks are all amazing. They can make marriage absolutely beautiful. And the best part is, if someone doesn’t have them, you can fast and pray over that someone so can develop them and turn into an incredible Biblical husband.

Hope you loved this post, and now that you know these 5 amazing marks of a Biblical husband, it’s your duty to pray with faith so God can help your special someone develop and nurture these everyday. Hallelujah.
