Time, that unique and ubiquitous principle which has been present throughout all of history, is certainly depicted in a beautiful and wise manner in Scripture. In the Bible, we find the themes of orderliness, organization, diligence, patience, perseverance, and trust intersecting with the subject of time.
From how to spend our time, what shouldn’t change through time, what the passage of time should show in our lives, and what we can expect in the upcoming times, Scripture beautifully lets us know what is the role that time should play in the life of a Christian. So, let’s dive into what the Bible says about time.

Here Are 12 Important Bible Verses About Time:
1. Genesis 1:14-15:
14 “Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.”
This Bible verse shows us how the human concept of time originated in the world, as something God created to bring organization to human activities and lives.
2. Ecclesiastes 3:1-11:
1 “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: 2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted; 3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance; 5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing; 6 A time to gain, and a time to lose; A time to keep, and a time to throw away; 7 A time to tear, and a time to sew; A time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 8 A time to love, And a time to hate; A time of war, and a time of peace.9 What profit has the worker from that in which he labors? 10 I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time.”
In these Bible verses of Ecclesiastes which many know, we find what the Bible says about time and season, which teach us so much about patience, orderliness, allocating time properly and trusting God’s beautiful timing and purposes in our lives. Unequivocally, it shows God’s timing is perfect.
3. Psalm 31:14-15:
14 “But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.” 15 My times are in Your hand; Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me.”
The conspicuous David conveys here for us something essential to remember: our youth, adulthood, elderhood; school, work, retirement, all of our times and seasons are beautifully in the hands of God. This we should never forget. Similar to Proverbs 16:9, we should commit all our planning and activities to God in our heart for His direction.
4. Matthew 28:20:
20 “And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
This is a Bible verse every Christian should always keep in mind. The Lord promises he will be with us during all times, from the time in the Greco-Roman world when he said it, to now in our modern times and until the last time.
5. Acts 1:6-7:
6 “Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.”
Regarding the timing arrival of the end of the world, and the events signal the beginning of the end, this Bible verse conveys that unlike those who try to put exact dates on the events of the end times, it is God’s specific will that we do not know the exact timing of the events of the end of the world.
In this way, we can trust the Lord whenever he decides to usher in this age, and whenever the last events of the end arrive, it doesn’t matter for us.
6. Romans 8:18-19:
18 “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.”
Perhaps epitomizing one of the most beautiful Bible verses about time is this Bible verse from the apostle Paul, encouraging us to get trust and get through the various predicaments of our present day.
7. Mark 13:35-37:
35 “Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning— 36 lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. 37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”
My dear Christian, many will be surprised and living their own lives when that precious time of the rapture arrives. We have been warned that it will indeed be a perilous, cold time with much indifference to the word of God, and a society rife with worldliness, secularism galore. But regardless of when our Lord comes, at evening, midnight, or morning, let’s keep the oil in our lamp!
8. Luke 21:33:
33 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”
This Bible verse is incredibly beautiful as it depicts to us that while the world is involved in its various tendencies, and many seasons, epochs, times pass by, the timelessness of the eternal and beautiful words of our Lord are immutable, their fulfillment ubiquitous, and treasured by Christians over millennia. We should put our trust in them, throughout all the different seasons of our lives.
9. 2 Timothy 4:2-4:
2 “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”
Delving onto the topic of the last times, this Bible lets us know the decadence and debauchery that will characterize those lugubrious last days. But, we can be warned, and like the wise virgins, we can maintain the oil in our lamps always.
10. 2 Peter 3:8-9:
8 “But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”
This Bible verse shows the timelessness of God. While we dwell in a dimension in which time exists, He is timeless and eternal.
11. Ephesians 5:15-16:
15 “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”
What should characterize every Christian is diligence, hard work, and taking advantage of time, which the apostle Paul encourages in various other Bible verses as well. The time we are bestowed with is a gift from God, and learning to utilize it wisely glorifies Him.
12. Revelation 2:4-5:
4 “Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent.”
Last but not least, is a much favorite Bible verse about time, relaying that there is something that should stand the test of time in the entirety of our lives as Christians: our ardent and fervent love for God.
The church of Ephesus in this chapter of Revelation had lost the zeal and the glint in their heart and eyes with which they began to live for God’s will; Regardless of the seasons, times, and different epochs in our lives let us never lose our first love. We must not fall; our love for God should be like wine, time should only improve it.
